Parallel Universe

In a parallel universe moss and dandelions are prized, and mole hills are considered a luxury. As I walked down the driveway this morning to pick up my Sunday newspaper I accidently stepped into that universe for just a moment, and as I looked back at the house I realized that I have the nicest yard on the block.

Dandelions are beautiful. They make a tasty salad and a great wine to go with your salad. As far as the moles...Bear eats those.

There's a food supply there for everyone.

Funny that you mention the consumption of dandelions. They were the very subject of a conversation we had with friends today as we sat visiting with them on their patio. Well, I guess the actual subject of our conversation was whether or not we would be able to survive in the wilderness with no food or supplies. Fred fantasizes about this all the time, and has a novel about this very thing floating around in his head. Anyway, long story short, we discussed what we would and would not be willing to eat to survive. My cohorts were quite confident in their ability to survive, mentioning such entrees as worms, scorpions (with the poisonous part bitten off first - it seems Fred has seen Survivor Man do this very thing), ants, etc. Well, to be sure I would be the first to die!! You see, dandelions were the ONLY thing I could say with confidence that I would be able to consume, and even then I suspected I would need a little vinegar with which to douse them.

Alana, I'd definitely become a vegetarian.
